Ojai, California is considered to be one of the best kept secrets on California’s Central Coast. It is located just 73 miles north of Los Angeles, near Santa Barbara and Ventura beaches. Ojai lies in the heart of a secluded valley that has always been a special kind of Shangri-La. Over 8,000 years ago the Chumash Indians discovered this area and sought sanctuary in the valley they named “Ojai” (Oh-Hi), a name obscured over time but experts now agree means “moon.” However, residents here favor an earlier interpretation and fondly call Ojai “The Nest” for the way the mountains cradle the valley. Ojai offers a sunny, mild climate year round, a neighborly village atmosphere, abundant hiking trails, specialty shopping, art and music festivals and spectacular natural beauty.

Transportation

Shuttle Service from LAX to Ojai. Door-to-door transportation to and from the airport is available by reservation. The most economical shuttle company in the area is Roadrunner Shuttle, phone: 805-389-8196. Rates are $75 for the first person and $10 per extra person up to 7 people.
